what is xR?

I like to call it photographic illustration, because I feel the work I am closest to, is more so like a constructed and thought out painting.

It all started with a little girl telling stories to the trees and flowers in the woods near her mid-western home.

It turned into careless life-threatening excursions in Baja in search for ship wrecks and Scorpion Bay.

It turned into unpredictable encounters with numerous artists which led to the El Mirage Series.

It turned into the love for colour, body, landscape, styling, and story telling to an audience beyond the trees and flowers.

It turned into fashion, collaboration, beauty, parties, drinking, drugs, ideas, sex, humiliation, greed, lies, betrayal, drama, cynicism, decline, and a rising approach into the world of OM. The world of existing without wanting, finding absolute satisfaction in what one had.

San Raquel is the alias I created in order to honor so many themes and trials I have come up against in my short life. I run against a herd of stampeding bullshit that some like to call "the industry" every single day of my life. Come to think of it, I will be doing this for the rest of my life. Past. Present. Future. I am forever an unsponsored runner in the race for constant artistic expression and installment.
